OCTOBER 30, 2019, 6:00 p.m.

Mandatory Evacuations Lifted

The County Sheriff has lifted many of the mandatory evacuation zones.  Check out the County Sheriff’s POST or more information about which zones are open and how to return home.

Re-energization  (aka power going back on)

PG&E announced that they have the all-clear to turn power back on through out the North Bay today. They are working to restore power as soon as they can.

Check the Outage Zone map for updated info on restoration.

UPDATE ON PETALUMA SHELTERS

As the mandatory evacuations are lifted and people return home, we are preparing to consolidate shelter operations so that evacuees can benefit from the best resources.  If you have ongoing shelter needs, the following shelters will remain open:

  • Veterans Building, 1094 Petaluma Blvd South
  • Sonoma Marin Fairgrounds, 175 Fairgrounds Drive

Returning Home

When authorities downgrade your neighborhood from a mandatory evacuation zone to an evacuation warning zone, you can return home at your own risk. You do not need to check in with anyone and you do not need a peace officer escort.

Evacuation warning areas can remain at risk from the Kincade Fire, so please continue to follow emergency alerts, and if you hear the hi-lo sirens, it’s time to evacuate.

You can see the latest evacuation map at SoCoEmergency.org.

Travel

Please be aware of potential traffic delays as areas repopulate. Fill your gas tank before heading home.

Power Restoration

Your area may be without power or natural gas as PG&E inspects power lines and begins restoring service in Sonoma County. To check the power status at your address, go to PG&E.com/outages.

If you suspect a gas leak or smell gas, take these precautions:

  •  Alert everyone nearby and leave the area immediately to an upwind location.
  • Do not use anything that could be a source of ignition, including cell phones flashlights, light switches, matches or vehicles, until you are a safe distance away.
  • Call 9-1-1 for emergency assistance and then call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.

Food Safety

If your home or business experienced a power outage, it is best to replace food. Here are some general guidelines:

  • After four hours without power, food in your refrigerator is likely spoiled, even if it looks and smells fine. Throw out food that has been in 40 degree or higher temperatures for two hours. Even frozen foods will have thawed by then.
  • For more information about food safety, go to SoCoEmergency.org.

Trash Service

Recology did not collect trash in evacuation zones. Once the zones are repopulated, trash service will resume on regular schedules. Residents may put out extra garbage in plastic bags at no additional fee.

Resource Information

For more information about emergency resources call 2-1-1 or visit SoCoEmergency.org.
